GARMIN Mobile XT For Symbian S60

Garmin Inc. provides very useful and interesting GPS solutions. Garmin Mobile XT is a software which is designed for mobile phones and provides GPS navigation on the go!

On the Nokia E71, E72 and ( N95 8GB ) you can install the Garmin Mobile XT (version 5.00.40 as of today) and use the internal GPS and/or the A-GPS intergrated on the Nokia Phones.

STEP ONE: First thing to do is to get Garmin Mobile XT software for your device. Go to Garmin Mobile XT website, and download the right version for your phone.

There are 3 files need to download, i.e.:-

1) "GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_50050.exe"

2) “GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx.exe”

3) “GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe”

Once you downloaded the installation files, connect you phone from the USB connection via ‘Mass Storage Mode’

From PC, install the "GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_50050.exe". The installation program will ask you where you want to install Garmin Mobile XT? Just choose the right drive (your phone) and click on “Install” then follow the steps until finish.

STEP TWO : Continue install the "GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe” & install them in the same way on your phone.

STEP THREE: Upon completion, install “GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx.exe”. Then, get the map you need and copy the map IMG file in your phone’s memory card, inside the “Garmin” directory. (Copy the “gmapsupp.img” into the garmin folder)

STEP FOUR: Disconnect the phone, and wait few seconds. Go to your applications (on the phone) and look for GMobileXT icon and run the application.

Garmin Mobile XT will start and you should read the agreements and stuff, once you’re done setting the basics, you get few options:

- to buy garmin xt

- to enter your activation key

- to evaluate the trial version

- to use a non garmin gps reciever.

Click the last one (other gps reciever), and then cancel the search for gps devices. Go to ”Tools” , go to “Settings”, and open the “About” menu, you’ll get an IMIE code on the about page, note that down!

Now, exit Garmin Mobile XT on your E71, E72 (N95, N95 8BG, N96, N82…)

 

STEP FIVE: Download the Garmin Mobile XT Unlock Genertor (by JetMouse) on your PC, then run it, and enter the code you noted in the “Unit ID” part and then click on “Generate” (the first one, while the Garmin Mobile XT is selected).

You’ll get a long code, just copy that and past it in a text editor (like notepad) and save the file as SW.UNL (make sure the file is not a txt file!!)


STEP SIX: Connect your phone to your PC again in the 'Data Transfer Mode' or ‘Mass Storage Mode’, and copy the SW.UNL file you’ve created to your Garmin folder on your phone’s memory card.



FINAL CONFIGURATION

1). From your phone, Run GarminXT

2). Go to Tools > Settings > System > Remote GPS. Change to “Use Attached GPS” by disabling the “Bluetooth GPS”.

3). Go to Tools > Manage My Data > Map Sets > MapSource. Ensure that all maps are enabled.
